This free comic book from New Mexico Animal Control, titled "A Tail From Outer Space," is a science fiction story for children of ages 10 and up and provides a unique way of educating kids about dog and cat overpopulation while strongly commenting on the importance of respect for all species. The story is about a planet in the Milky Way Galaxy that is ruled by benevolent creatures called Giplings. These Giplings, who are a lot like us Earthlings, also have companion animals. Their "pets," however, are people. The Giplings overpopulate the planet Gip with "people pets." The 12-page sci-fi comic book drives home the importance of caring for other creatures compassionately and respectfully. There is no online form on their website, so too get a free copy of the comic you will have to send an e-mail to New Mexico Animal Control or give them a call.
